Abstract
Handling big data sets is not a child’s play.
Everyone knows that data needs to be accounted for properly: it needs to be inserted, modified, and, if necessary, deleted.
Once your data reaches the big data realm though, everything changes: often, INSERTs no longer cut the chase, SELECTs slow down, and deleting data is the cause of headaches.
Once developers start facing such problems, they turn to DBAs.
In some cases, though, even experienced DBAs are ill-equipped to help: not all of them know how to revive your database and make it able to not only handle big data but also keep its performance from suffering.
In this talk, we’re going to go through what, how, when & why you need to perform to avoid facing such issues or, if you are already facing them, we will make sure you never have to face them again.
